Imagine wanting to
learn to ride a horse and being given a horse that has never been
ridden! This is crazy, but this is exactly what happens when most people
decide to train their dog.
While the person is
learning how to train a dog they are also expected to train a dog at the
same time - seems crazy, but it's true.
After an extensive
research period, we have come up with a concept which will address this
problem - day training! |
 |
Your dog spends a day
a week with a professional dog trainer and is taught easily and quickly
how to respond to commands, using a combination of classical
conditioning and positive reinforcement.
We then teach the
owner how to handle a dog. We use a trained dog so that the owner can
concentrate purely on their skills and not worry about having to train a
dog at the same time.
Once the dog and
the owner demonstrate competence in a variety of exercises we conduct a
hand-over session in which the owner implements their newly learnt
skills on their own dog. |
 |
By using this
technique we:
- Reduce the
amount of time that it takes to train the dog
- Minimise any
confusion or stress that the dog might experience when being trained
by a beginner
- Make the
learning process much more relaxed and enjoyable for the owner
In a nutshell day
training teaches skills separately to dog and owner and then marries
them once a suitable level of competence is achieved!
